Latvia Tourist Visa Process
Step 1: Identify the Visa Type & Purpose
- Latvia is part of the Schengen Area, so for short trips (tourism, visiting friends/family), travellers apply for a Schengen visa.
Step 2: Gather Required Documents
- Valid passport (with at least three months validity beyond planned departure from the Schengen Area, and blank pages)
- Visa application form, duly filled and signed.
- Passport-size photographs as per specifications.
- Proof of accommodation (hotel bookings or host confirmation)
- Travel itinerary / flight bookings showing entry and exit plan
- Travel medical insurance covering the Schengen area
- Proof of financial means to support your stay.
Step 3: Application Submission
- Submit your application through the VFS Global centre, as per your location.
- Book appointment in advance and submit all documents.
Step 4: Processing Time
- Usually about 15 calendar days after submission of all required documents.
- In some cases, more time may be required especially if additional verification is needed.
Step 5: Collect Passport / Visa Decision
- Once approved, collect your passport from VFS or embassy/consulate or use courier if offered.
- If refused, applicant has rights to appeal, or reapply with corrected/updated documents.
